Buyer (Electrification) (#1343)

Client: A global electric-vehicle battery manufacture. Now operates lithium-ion battery plants across Japan, the UK, the US, France, China, and Spain, supplying major automotive OEMs.

Position: Buyer (Raw Materials & Components for Lithiumion Batteries)

Position Summary

As a Buyer for lithiumion battery raw materials and components, you will be responsible for strategic sourcing, supplier management, cost optimization, and global coordination across multiple production sites. You will work closely with internal teams and international suppliers to ensure stable, cost effective, and sustainable procurement of key battery materials.

Key Responsibilities

• New Supplier Development — Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers; develop and execute sourcing plans.

• Supplier Qualification — Approve and select suppliers for each project (EV, HEV, and new vehicle programs).

• Contract Negotiation — Lead contract discussions and coordinate commercial terms with suppliers.

• Cost Reduction Activities — Drive supplier costdown initiatives and continuous improvement.

• Sustainability & BCP — Promote environmental protection, sustainability, and business continuity planning with suppliers.

• Cross-functional Collaboration — Work closely with internal departments, including overseas affiliates.

Procurement Scope

Materials include:

• Cathode materials: Lithium, manganese, etc.

• Anode materials: Aluminum related components

• Module components: Electrolytes, packs, harnesses, SBR, and others

Global Coordination

• Factories located in UK, USA, and China

• Communication with all plants is required for all raw materials

• Work conducted in AM + Buyer team structure

Overview:

• Strong knowledge of the chemical industry or electronic components

• Minimum 3 years of purchasing/procurement experience

• Businesslevel English (speaking, reading, writing)

Required Practical Experience

• Direct materials or indirect procurement experience

Supplier selection, price evaluation, negotiation, contract management, costreduction activities

• Experience in trade operations or logistics management

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in automotive, battery manufacturing, battery materials trading, or chemical industry

• Experience in trade operations or logistics

• Background in a large enterprise

• TOEIC 650+

• Fluent Japanese communication skills
