The Operations Manager oversees the operation of autonomous vehicle technology across Japan. The position is responsible for ensuring timely preparation and operation of sites, being a liaison for company, and providing operations training to our partners. This position is also responsible for the integration work of ADK to the platform vehicle in Japan. The Operations Manager shall maintain strong relationships with our partners and balance customer satisfaction with needs and resources.
Essential Responsibilities

Manage autonomous vehicle operations in Japan, including the vehicle integration work as well as operation work at site.

Serve as a partner contact for vehicle operation, maintenance, and integration.

Manage site field engineers (SAEs) in Japan

Ensure consistency between Japanese and US operations, and be the bridge between
US operations team and JP operations team for the best practices to be share
-
Develop and maintain a regular cadence of communication with company and non-company operations teams and AVOs to keep them informed about software and process updates and to assess the need for training.

Work with Program Management to coordinate with our partner’s operation and maintenance entity.

Work with Vehicle Integration to ensure the proper integration and maintenance of
ADK hardware.

Coordinate infrastructure preparation and maintenance with partners.

Manage and maintain repair parts inventory in Japan.

Train and certify personnel on vehicle operation and safety

Train personnel on deployment tools such as fleet management, issue tracking, and
learning platforms.

Train the trainer of 3rd party operators.

Train site operator

Track operational KPIs and ensure global standardization.

Provide operational support, escalation management, and customer relationship
management.

Develop and deliver training, and assess training needs.

Drive customer retention and identify expansion opportunities.
Requirements
Skills and Abilities
Success in this role typically requires the following competencies:

Leadership to guide and mentor the direct reports

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in Japanese and English

Ability to build and maintain relationships across both technical and nontechnical stakeholders

Proven ability to create and maintain clear and thorough documentation of processes and procedures

Leadership in training others

Ability to keep calm under pressure

Ability to keep learning and updating the knowledge about May’s technology and operation to communicate them correctly with our partners
Required

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
-
At least 3 years of experience of managing a team

Experience in engineering

Experience with problem solving in a customer facing environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills across multiple platforms, with the ability to explain complex and technical concepts in an easily understandable manner

Ability to work effectively with team members at all levels of the organization
-
Excellent Japanese and English language skills for both verbal and written communication
-
Japan’s Drivers license
