Overview:

Our client represents the full technical scope of the group, making the best bridge between our Japanese customers and head office project teams, providing tailor-made tech solutions to our customers.

Role:

The Customer Project Manager is responsible for being the customer interface and aligning together with the Project Manager the support of our head- office project team. The role is based at our headquarters in Tokyo, but requires frequent travel to our OEM/Tier1 customers’ R&D centers.

The projects are executed at our R&D headquarters in Europe, and hence English ability and experience with European culture is essential. The role currently involves ADAS engineering and consulting topics, but may expand to Automated Driving or other technical areas.

Duties include :

  • Discuss with the customer to understand their needs and keep them informed of project status

  • Communicate and coordinate project activities with the related customer project teams

  • Ensure the customers intention and needs are clearly understood by headquarters

  • Maintain close contact with the project manager to understand project activities so as to be able to knowledgeably discuss with the customer

  • Act as a bridge/advisor for the cross-culture working and continuously propose improved working habits to headquarters

  • Inform headquarters about all engineering changes or delays in order to adjust schedule, cost and/or specifications

  • Implement countermeasures and escalate when project progress or results are unsatisfactory

  • Undertake local engineering work for project activities where needed

  • Participate in troubleshooting and propose sustainable solutions

  • Present and explain results to the customer and ensure the customer understands the results and how they were created (sell the success of the project)

  • Work according to company standards and tools in Japan

 

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering related subject
  • Native level Japanese (spoken & written) and fluent English 
  • > 3 years experience in an automotive customer-facing role 
  • Experience with Western and Japanese working culture
  •  System Engineering experience
  • Understanding of embedded SW development (SWE level)
  • Experience involving ADAS, Active Safety or Automated Driving systems for mass production projects
  • Experienced in project management or function ownership
  • Knowledge of technical requirements specifications
  • Experience with simulation tools (eg. Carmaker)
  • Knowledge of safety topics (SOTIF, FuSa)
  • Valid driving license
